NamNam Noodle Bar Jakarta Indonesia - Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK)

Finally, NamNam Noodle Bar opened their first shop in Indonesia. Located in north Jakarta, specifically in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK). Yes another newbies in PIK but it is not a new name. If you often come to Singapore, you might have heard about it. It was on 2012, the first NamNam outlet in Singapore. So, what's so special about NamNam? Based on their Pho-losophy it's affordable, quick, and no MSG. I truly respect the third point that they take pride in not using Monosodium Glutamate into their dishes. NamNam offers Pho experience with modern twist, and

it's even better because they serve Banh Mi!

I used to make my own Banh Mi at home because it's hardly to find here. Well, I guess I will come here more often. OK so here are few dishes that I had yesterday. Coconut Shrimp Paste Sugarcane Skewer (IDR 35.000) - using sugarcane as skewer is really nice, it makes the shrimp balls juicy and also creates slightly sweet and savory flavor

Fresh Southern Rolls with Prawn, Fresh Herbs, and Peanut Sauce (IDR 28.000) - fresh spring rolls served with peanut butter sauce, it was really nice because of the herbs gives a kick on every bite. If you like something fresh and not into greasy things, you may want to order this rolls.

Crispy Fried Prawn & Chicken Rolls (IDR 35.000) based on my foodie friends, they're all agree that this is the best appetizer.

Pho is noodle soup that consists of broth, rice noodle, meat, and herbs. It is a popular street food in Vietnam as breakfast meal though it can be for any time of the day. NamNam serves Pho with different kind of toppings from Chicken to Wagyu Beef.

Pho Kampong Chicken (IDR 58.000) thin rice noodle in tasty clear soup topped with chicken and herbs.

Softshell Crab Noodle Soup (IDR 110.000) my personal preference, I like the thick noodle better than the thin one.

5-Spice Pulled Beef & Beef Floss Banh Mi (IDR 49.000) - so happy when I found out that this place serve Banh Mi as not many places here that have Banh Mi on their menu. The famous Vietnamese sandwich, usually consists of sliced meat, cilantro, spicy mayo, pickled carrot and radish. Baguette is essential for Banh Mi, and honestly the baguette here at NamNam is quite nice.

Crispy Fried Banana, Sesame Seeds with Coconut Sauce (IDR 28.000) many places serve banana fritters but should go for this one because they picked the right banana and it comes with coconut milk sauce.

Chilled Dried Longan, Lotus Seeds, Water Chestnut, Seaweed Dessert (IDR 28.000)

Chilled 3 Color Dessert (IDR 28.000) - Consists of cendol, beans, shaved ice, flavored with coconut milk. If you're asking me for a cold dessert to order, go for this one! Once again, I must say this is just perfect to my taste buds. Some people may find it not to sweet but

I'm not an expert when it's related to coffee, but you can have my words that this place have good coffee. Go for the cold one with condense milk. For me it was good, it has strong flavor which I like and most of all, it has just a right amount of sweetness. The way they present the coffee also pretty nice, in a tin mug instead of glass or cup. I thought the presentation will be like in other Vietnamese restaurant that the coffee brewed with a small metal French drip filter.

Vietnamese Black Coffee Hot/Ice  (IDR 20.000)
Vietnamese Coffee with Condense Milk Hot/Ice (IDR 25.000)

Great lunch! It's an honor for me that I can meet Chef Nam in person. He said that here for NamNam in Indonesia, they try their best to use local ingredients though some spices and sauce are delivered directly from Vietnam to maintain the authentic taste.

Update (October 2015): Namnam is still a nice place to go whenever in PIK. Always love their Banh Mi and fried banana.
