Spanish Churros with Cinnamon Sugar and Chocolate Dipping Sauce

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup and 2 tbsp of all purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp preferred sweetener
  • 1-2 tbsp oil or butter
  • a pinch of salt
  • oil for frying
In a sauce pan, boil the water. Add salt, oil/butter, and your preferred sweetener. Remove from the heat, then add the flour, mix until smooth. Put the dough in a piping bag with a star tip. Heat the oil on medium-high, fry the dough until golden brown.

Serve with:
  • Cinnamon sugar (I used molasses instead of sugar) or,
  • Chocolate sauce (melt 200 gr good quality dark chocolate in a double boiler along with 1/4 cup preferred sweetener, and 1/4 cup milk or water)
Some people like to put egg into the dough but I don't, it was lovely enough to enjoy as afternoon snack. It was nice and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Make sure the oil is hot enough when frying.
