Potatoes Au Gratin (Layered Baked Potato)

  • 5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup cooking cream or milk
  • 1 cup cheese, gruyere and/or cheddar
  • 1/4 cup parmesan
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • butter for coating the baking pan
  • salt and pepper to taste
Layer the sliced potato in a baking dish, add grated cheese, continue with another potato layer. In a bowl, combine the cream, nutmeg, cheese, salt and pepper. Pour the cream/milk mixture into the potato, add more cheese on top. Bake in a pre-heated oven on 220C for about 60 to 80 minutes.
