Pie Crust

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup butter*, diced, chilled
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup ice water or as needed
  1. Combine the flour with the butter with pastry cutter or fork, make sure the butter is really cold.
  2. Once it resembles coarse crumbs, add water 1 tbsp at a time
  3. Add the water just until it comes together
  4. Wrap the dough with plastic wrap
  5. Store in fridge for minimum 2 hours, I usually rest it overnight
  6. Sprinkle flour on working surface, roll the dough, put on baking pan
  7. Put in freezer for few minutes before baking
  8. I usually use low temperature on 175C for about 45 to 50 minutes
  9. I don't like egg wash on my pie, so I usually brush it with coconut nectar or other liquid sweetener
* You can also use margarine but it's not as tasty as if you use butter. Sometimes I make using half butter and half margarine
