Resep: Hot Stone Rice Bowl with Cheese - Korean Style

I've fallen for Korean food since years ago, when K-Pop not as popular as nowadays, well started with learning how to make kimchi at home. At that time, there were not many Korean restaurant, it was hard to find Korean ingredients at local supermarket, now it's easier. Check out my previous post about Korean Grocery Stores.

Few weeks ago I went to my most visited Korean grocery store, Mu Gung Hwa at Jalan Senayan Blok S. Bought a kilo of gochujang (I know, that's quite a lot, I always have it in my (mom's) kitchen, along with sesame oil, and soy sauce). Someday, I'll have my own kitchen, and I will make a kitchen tour, sounds great! Anyway, finally I decided to buy a stone bowl because I couldn't make it last summer when I was in Seoul, it's too heavy. It costed me about IDR 125.000, slightly more expensive to be compared with the one I found in Lotte Mart Seoul Station, fair enough.

First thing came out, I want to make bibimbap!! It was quite a while since the last time I posted cooking video, so I made this rice bowl with only sausage and egg. I think it's also possible to replace the sausage with chicken, or even smoked beef, the idea is using typical Korean seasoning, in my case, it's gochujang, gim, and sesame oil. Bonus: MOZZARELLA, imagine a Korean style fried rice with mozzarella cheese!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups steamed white rice
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 beef sausage, sliced
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp of gochujang (korean red pepper paste) or to taste
  • 1 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • soy sauce to taste
  • shredded gim (roasted seaweed)

Directions:

  1. First, sauté garlic and onion until translucent, add in sausage, cook for set aside
  2. Coat the stone bowl with cooking oil, heat on medium
  3. Once the bowl is hot enough, add in rice, sauté sausage, gochujang, mozzarella, egg, sesame oil, and gim.
  4. Mix well, add in soy sauce if needed. Personally I like to leave it
  5. Best serve with kimchi :D
